There And Back Again

I am back after this hiatus. It has been a fortnight since I have written anything here. It gives me hence, a reason to reconsider the name of "Weekly Buzz". Perhaps "Monthly Buzz' would be more apt.
And for the reasons as to why I couldn't / didn't continue although I had time was that I happened to be too engrossed by 'Bhagwad Gita'. Yes , I finally read it. And I can certainly say that I am enlightened. I sometimes wonder how a simple , concise book carrying as less as 18 chapters can be able to build an ineffable feeling , a mature bond with the reader. It is apparently a book on the surface but , it is the ' A mortal's whole life summarized ' at its core. What I simply loved about it is that one does not have to be a believer to read it. Ring any bells for you guys ? Just read it.

Well, I am really delighted as well as amazed to see some of you waiting for the next post. It is on the way. Certainly.

Weekly Buzz #1 (Uno)

Welcome to 'WB-Weekly Buzz'.

With WB , I don't intend to infringe upon any trademark/copyright of Warner Brothers Inc.
It took me a while to bring its first chapter to you , thanks to an agonizing match between Federer and Djokovich which made me forget everything else on earth ; and just remember that it unfortunately ended the Grand Slam run in 2011 for my ever favorite Federer :| We still love you Roger :)

Well , I am terribly excited to get this started. I am looking forward to receive some positive feedback and not the tomatoes and stones. :D Off we go then...

1. Biz News
It is a real pain-in-the-ass task to find an appropriate news for whole week. There are multitude of sectors from which I could have possibly fished out the news - mainly being finance , marketing and companies/industries. I prefer to stick with companies this week.

Suzuki to divorce Volkswagen - to end capital & business alliance with VW
This resulted due to the Suzuki's decision to pool out the diesel engines from Fiat which infringed the terms of agreement of their partnership. Suzuki further announces VW group to sell their stake in Suzuki currently held at 19.9%.

What makes this news important is the fact that VW group is the biggest selling marque/brand names in the market having number of subsidiaries , some of them being Audi , SEAT , Bentley , Skoda and Bugatti etc, and hence Suzuki must have contemplated a lot to break away its long alliance with a company of such stature. Let's see where Suzuki heads now.

2. Quiz Question
This cricketer is nicknamed 'Lagaan Bhai' as his look and fielding reminded his Ranji colleagues of the sust and rustic cricketers in the film Lagaan. Coincidentally , he hails from the same region where the film was shot. Which one ? :P

I am sure you are having the laugh of your life :D

3. Word of the week
Obdurate adj - 1. Not giving in to persuasion , intractable
2. Stubbornly persistent in wrongdoing

Sentence : The obdurate follower of the blog refused to comment despite being asked to do several times :D

4. Song of the week
goes to none other than 'In loving memory - Alter Bridge'.
Out of all the reasons as to why you all should listen to this song , I will stick with one - Its heavenly. The ever awesome lyrics made much more beautiful and serene by the acoustic guitar in the background , powered by the husky baritone of genius Myles Kennedy , so powerful that it can make you forget everything else running on your mind. As for the metal fans , wait for a minute to let the feeling sink in. I am sure you will have reasons afterwards to switch on to the alternative rock too.

5. Movie of the week
Have you ever given a thought to live a secluded life much like a recluse? Would you ever think to donate every piece of money you possess , tear your credit/debit cards just to hitch-hike and be a tramp ? Well, thats not a spoiler. The movie of the week that I select is "Into the Wild" directed by two time oscar winner Sean Penn , the man who himself is known for his powerful performances. Its a real life biographical account of travels of guy Christopher Johnson McCandless who is a graduate but follows his own moral code, and despises the material life that society inflicts upon him. He plans to abandon the promising life that lies ahead of him, to follow the life of “an aesthetic voyager whose home is the road”, to find the truth of his existence.

Why should you see it ?

Apart from the fact that it transcends you into a whole new universe with its wonderful character portrayal and subtle reality of life, it gives a whole new perspective of a genre that is fast catching pace. The slow and melodious sound tracks from the virtuoso Eddie Vedder grace this master piece. The title track "Guaranteed" sets the pace. The cinematography is unconventional & non - linear and suits the movie aptly. The movie itself boasts some of the most exhilarating shots of nature ever captured by any director. The movies like this are such a rarity , and its another reason why it is a classic. I will give it 5/5.

So thats all for this week. The response that WB #1 will be able to evoke , will give me courage and much confidence to bring before you more of such nice things.

A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, and not by the desire to beat others. - Ayn Rand

Sharing is The Real Wealth

Before I do some serious writing , i'd be more than contented if I transform my blog into something useful , wherein I, along with you all , can do some utilitarian learning. Knowledge about the current affairs , business news, a bit of quizzing ( can't resist it ) , word power that would further our vocabulary, and some top songs and movies , if I share , can really be of immense help for our development. Or I can have some separate blog for such things wherein I can share the above mentioned things weekly.
Your suggestions/comments will be of profound importance for its smooth sailing.

1. Biz news
I have observed that this is one part of the newspaper that really just freaks us out. We hardly bother to give it its due credit. Financial jargons coupled with the rise and fall of stocks, market data, charts, appear byzantine. Growth rate , sovereign debt ratings, and quarterly profit are the unpleasant terms that make this column unfriendly. So to calm this animosity , I would share a weekly biz news that has been a hot selling one in that particular week. Now to decide that important news is somewhat difficult , I agree, but I hope I will not disappoint you as the news will be of much relevance.

2. Quizzing
"If quizzing were to romance with me , I will love to go in bed with it". I was planning to make this blog more interesting by posting a question every week. That way it will evoke more response from you and it will add up more fun while learning :)

3. Word of the week
I assume that you all know what that means. The word will not be the usual one which you are likely to find in 3500 words of GRE/GMAT list. So rejoice :)

4. Song of the week
One song that you really can't miss. Most of you might have heard/ listened it. But still nothing beats the inbound ecstasy of the melody itself \m/

5. Movie of the week
One movie that we should have watched by now , but unfortunately , didn't get the chance. The movie that needs to be watched irrespective of its genre, start cast and everything else.

Stay connected ! And smile always because remember " You are not fully dressed until you wear a smile" :)

The Big Bang - When it all started

Well , this is my first ever blog post. And I want to be really candid with you all. Yes , I am really scared to write it. It sends jitters to my tall lamp-post like figure. And why shouldn't I , when I have a reason?
Hoobastank could not have said it better. "The reason is you"- the 'readers'. I am scared to foresee as to why my musings shall attract anybody at all. After all , there is nothing special that i'd write, let alone how I write. First , it ceases to have a usual Blogger's like writing touch and secondly , its JAB - just another blog . Only respite is my sweet and simple assumption that it will be read by a very few readers. Or at least , it is encouraging me now to continue writing it further.

I'm sure i'd be referred to as a pessimist after reading these above lines, but in actuality , I can convince its otherwise. Ever since I had decided / thought to write a blog , something sinister has happened. It was two days back when I really held my nerve , stopped listening to all the counter thoughts that resisted me to write , the thoughts that had always run riot inside my otherwise composed mind. I opened my notebook's ( as Laptops have come to be known more popularly ) lid, made my account on Blogger , selected/chose a decent template and Taa..Daa.. "You have successfully made your account". I saw my mouse pointer slowly crawling towards "New Post" icon very much like a nursery kid who is fighting and maddeningly crying to escape the fear that school brings. The very moment new post opened , earth seemed as if it started dancing. It was an earthquake of 6.6 magnitude. Sinister , isn't it ? Those 5-6 seconds of shaking of few plates below the ground had shaken my 'plates' badly, let alone my confidence to start writing.

Big Bang

Amidst such messy affairs , I have managed to gather the guts to write. As far as the title of this post is concerned , I seriously don't know how I thought of a bizarre and scientific term like Big Bang. Probably it was just then when all of my thoughts turned red hot and dense that some explosion of a sort occurred inside and I began typing it. Crazy me. Seriously. Such a poor analogy. I don't yet know if the universe is really expanding or not ( Well , I have left that to a 'paralyzed guy' who happens to be a cosmologist , physicist , mathematician etc etc , to decide ) but what I can tell with certainty is that my miniscule sized brain is still the same size. It'd never expand. Well, who cares. Not me at least.

I have been reading some very cool blogs since last year. And yet , I could never ever decide on a theme of my own. Now that it is really happening , I will like to write more often. Its not hard to realize that blogging is really a beneficial hobby ; in a way that , besides it improves your writing skills, it also imparts you a freedom to generate a perspective on any issue. It is a cognitive process of learning. I hope that I will keep on learning the same way. Furthermore , I have decided to write about my recent experience with ZS Associates , the company in which I am duly placed.
